This is a non smoking house for non smokers only. Some of the nicest people I know are active in the cigarette smoking community. However, outside smoking simply does not work here. I don’t allow smoking any thing here.

Right now there is only 3 people living in the house. Me the owner, I have an Englishman on my top floor. I have a lady in a large bedroom on my middle floor.

I want to rent my basement room out. The bedroom is pretty nice. It measures 10.5 x 19. It is furnished with a nice queen sized bed, nice desk, nice dresser, phone jack, keys to your room etc.. There is a large window allowing natural light to enter. This bedroom has very nice pine wood work all over.

Outside the bedroom there is a smaller front room. ( About 12 x 12 ). In the smaller front room there is a high end microwave oven, a toaster and a newer 10 cubic foot refrigerator. Sorry, there is no stove /range for you to use in this house. Stove / range fires are a leading cause of residential fires. This smaller front room also has nice pine wood work all over.

Off to the side and back is your own personal bathroom and laundry room. The bathroom and laundry room are not as fancy as the bedroom and the smaller front room. They have more of a “utility feel” to them. In the laundry room there is a full size washer and a mini dryer. The laundry room has plenty of space. In the event you have some stuff you want to store.

This basement has a direct door to the outside. Directly outside the basement is the covered patio and fenced in yard area. This would be primarily your area. This would be perfect for mans best friend. Because there is a nice insulated dog house right there.

Microwave ovens are great! They have come a long ways in recent years. Just like high definition TVs and cell phones. I am all ways preparing fresh salmon and tender farmed trout in my microwave up stairs. Do you enjoy rice, prime rib, baked potatoes, BLT or Club House Sandwiches? Microwave ovens deliver! Microwave ovens are 2nd to none in cooking frozen vegetables. I have gobs of Pyrex bowls you can use if you want.

Cat?
I have had reasonably good luck with woman cat owners in this house. As long as they have just one cat. When a woman cat owner calls me. My antennas kind of go up. I have noticed for a while now that woman cat owner tend to stay here a little longer term. I have a real nice cat condo ( tree ) stored away. You can use it if you want.

If you are a 100% bus person. You know how heavy cat litter can be on the bus. I am the type of guy that would go to the store and pick stuff like that up for you. ( At no charge ). However , I am not the pushy type.

Who ever rents this basement room is going to have more personal space. Because it is in a more separated section of the house. It has its own private entrance. You will be the only one in the basement. The bathroom and laundry room will be for you only.

It is important that you be an approachable person. If some thing comes up, you have to be able to communicate with out having an angry attitude. You do not have to be a super social gregarious person.

This basement room is for 1 person only. Minimal company, no over night guest format. Especially if you are new and have no track record .

Seattle is a very busy, crowded city. I have a pretty good household security policy here that also benefits privacy. I am not comfortable with people being in the house or in the back yard if they do not live here. Feel free to meet your friends or family at the street any time you want. If you want pizza delivered. That’s different, go for it!

This basement is not an apartment. I feel more comfortable describing this as a “Deluxe Basement Sleeping Room”. For an employed person or a person that has proof of income.

A student is possible. I recently had very good luck with a second year UW student. He moved out to join the Air Force. I guess they are going to help him with future tuition. Which is spendy.

Its kind of hard sharing your house. Sometimes I get quite a few calls from all over.There is no sense of urgency to get someone in here. The fit has to be right.

If you are interested. I might be able to compensate you for on going yard and or house work around my place.

I don’t do month to month here. I generally try to get someone on a 4 to 6 month commitment. Then we kind of see how it goes. I might be able to do a “2 months only” or “3 months only” deal for the right person. I am taking things on a case by case basis.

$450.00 a month. If you have first month rent, last months rent and refundable deposit.

$490.00 a month. If we make a deal were you do not pay the last months rent up front.

You can latter lower your rent by $40.00 a month. By getting the last months rent paid. (If we make a deal on the $490.00 price).

Once you get your foot in the door at my house. I have a set up were you can pay by the day or week. My whole thinking is that you never, ever get behind on your rent. If that was to happen. Things generally go down hill pretty fast.

The above prices include utilities. All tenant/housemates are required to make a good faith effort to use water and electricity wisely. Other wise, I will raise your rent. Use of the cloths line in the back yard is encouraged when the timing is right.

If you work out for 12 months. I will give you the 13th month for free.

There is a possibility that I can hold the bedroom for you. Your rent would not start until you actually move in.

This might be a good situation for a shift worker. I had an out of state contract Registered Nurse stay here a while back. It worked out ok.

* Close to all major freeways and the Seattle area bus system.
Buses 60,131,134 and 132 are close.

*Parking area in front of the house on the street.

* Washer and dryer.

* Motion sensor out door night lighting.

* Working smoke detectors in the house.

* Friendly 4+ acre community pea patch farm. (1 block away).

* WIFI will deliver the World Wide Web right to your computer!

* Plenty of space if you want your own personal garden.

Pay your rent.———Clean up after your self.———Conserve on utilities.———Come and go as you please.

To the few people that have lived here in the past. If you need a place again . Feel free to call. Familiarity is nice. I can give you a discount. I had a lady that lived here in 2006 for 4 months. She came back in 2008 and stayed on my ” 3 months only program”. I also had a completely different lady live here for 5 1/2 months in 2007 - 2008. She came back 7 months latter and stayed for 2 1/2 months.
